KMU received a presidential citation at the 13th Innovative Technology Competition for developing technology for small and medium companies’ development. Only KMU received the presidential award among the country’s 4-year universities. Also, KMU received 5% of research funding in 2012 to supplement research and to help businesses.
Evaluation standards were goal achievement (40), technology (30), the possibilities of utilizing it in real industry (20), and how much a university tries to develop technology to help small and medium companies. The average score of universities was 71.9. KMU got 80.18, the highest score among the universities.
KMU has made consistent efforts to improve local companies. For example, in February of last year, Daegu Technopark KMU branch recruited 200 people who wanted to participate in small and medium companies’ internship programs. This program reduces personnel expenses for small and medium companies and helps employees to find a better job.
Also, in March, a small and medium companies conference held in Seongseo Industrial Complex invited 3 company CEOs from KMU. They introduced their experiences of starting an enterprise. In April, students in the KMU Global Trade Specialist Education Program (GSEP) participated in the Shanghai Trade Fair. They clinched a twenty thousand dollar export contract with a Japanese company. The goods are small and medium company’s goods.
