On April 1, Keimyung University (KMU) hosted a tree planting event to celebrate Arbor Day. This Arbor Day celebration was held in KMU’s Dongyoung Forest in Chilgok. The event attendees removed dead trees, planted valuable research trees such as white birch, hinoki cypress and oriental raisin tree and learned about their medicinal uses. Also, Dongyoung Forest has a cypress forest that was created by a donation from Chilgok-gun government. Chilgok County officer said, “Fresh and clean air in a forest releases stress and anxiety and helps the metabolism of the human body.”
The forest operates various educational and experiential programs for various research and the public. Dongyoung Forest visitors will get an introduction to an arboretum and a forest experience class.
