KMU President Synn llhi visited Turkey through the city of Istanbul’s official invitation from January 27 to February 2. President Synn and Istanbul University President Mahmut Ak discussed academic exchange for research on the Silk Road’s history and culture. Both universities decided to start student exchange in the second semester 2016
Istanbul University is a Turkish public university with a 550-year history. It has produced presidents of Turkey and the first Turkish Nobel Literature Prize winner, Orhan Pamuk. KMU opened the Silk Road Central Asia Institute in 2014 for academic research and cultural exchange. Last March, KMU declared Central Asia day and held cultural events related to Turkish culture. KMU and Istanbul University held the 2015 Silk Road International Academic Conference on October 15.
Kadir Topbas, the mayor of Istanbul said, “I hope to explore the historical and cultural value of the Silk Road through academic research and cultural exchange with Keimyung University.”
