KRZYSZTOF IGNACY MAJKA, Polish Ambassador to Korea receives an honorary doctorate in laws at Keimyung University on Thursday, April 17.
Authority of Keimyung University said he made significant contributions for the promotion of economic, political, artistic, and cultural exchanges between Korean and Poland. Most notably, he played an active role in Korea-Poland summit, and his role in resolving legal matters between Korea and Poland pertaining to the revision of both countries' export and import policies and laws on special economic zones.
Dr. SYNN Ilhi, President of Keimyung University said "It is an uncommon pleasure for me to confer upon H.E. Mr. Krzysztof Ignacy Majka, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Korea, the degree of Doctor of Laws, Honoris causa.", and "He has opened the Office of the Honorary Consulate General of Poland in Daegu, the only one of Poland in Korea and also the only honorary consulate general of any foreign country in this region of more than 5 million people, which is an indication of his understanding of the cultural, political and economic importance of the City of Daegu and the Province of Gyeongbuk.“
He also empathized the meaning of the degree conferment by mentioning, "He is undoubtedly an outstanding scientist, dedicated diplomat and trusted politician. But the most compelling aspects of his life come from his cultured and humane character.", and "It is this Polish gentleman of culture, of the laws of ethical stature of professional specialist whom we want to honor with our most sincere respect and admiration.”
The conferral ceremony will be held at Keimyung University's Edward Adams hall on Thursday, April 17, 11 a.m. The program of the ceremony will be as follows: Opening Remarks (Prof. Choi B.
