Kim Dong-hwi (Department of Education) was selected for the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD) by the U.S. State Department. This program provides part of the expenses such as tuition, airfare, living expenses, and medical insurance to selected students from around the world with ECA (Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs) support. Selected students spend one semester or one year as an exchange student in an American university. This time, they selected four students from 500 applicants across Korea. The selected students will be assigned universities by the U.S. State Department. They will start their exchange student life in the USA in August for one semester or one year.
Dong-hwi said, “I was interested in studying in the USA. I saw the recruitment post for the Global Exchange Student Program and prepared for about two months. I tried to speak in English in the English-only dormitory KELI House. Moreover, I had many conversations with my foreign friends in the International Lounge. That was a great help to me. I major in education, but I’m interested in a variety of jobs. Therefore, I study applied linguistics and engineering education. I hope to use my ability in education or human resources management in a foreign company or international organization. Studying in the USA, my first aims are to increase my ability and go to grad school.”
