Keimyung University held ‘declaration of establishment of 115 years on September 1, at Sungseo campus as Rev. Dr. Soonmo Chong, Chairman for Board of Trustees, Educational Foundation Keimyung University, Synn Ilhi, President, Kwon Young-jin, Daegu Mayor, Kim Gwan-yong gyeongbuk governor and others attended the ceremony.
Keimyung University declared establishment of 115 years formally as it decided year of 1899 which is Jejungwon’s establishment year to the whole university’s year of establishment. Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center is originated from Jejungwon.
Jejungwon was established in 1899 by Dr. Woodbridge Odlin Johnson, missionary as the first modern medical center in Daegu
This declaration has the meaning that both history of the hospital and university will be started to realize in the same place according to establishment of new Keimyung University Hospital in 2016. Through this, Keimyung University is prepared to open the light to the region and the world based on pioneer, service and creative spirit.
Synn Ilhi, president, announced that Keimyung University and Dongsan Medical Center have the same essence; spirit of pioneer and service. Thus, Keimyung University will be grown as the global private school which is opening the light to the region and the world.
Above all, Keimyung University gives the meaning to maidenhair tree as the school chaplain, flower of chionanthus retusus as the flower of school and LAPIS LAZULI as the stone of school as new history has been started.
