TRAVEL AND HAPPINESS

  1. Course Description
    이 강좌는 인간의 행복, 여행동기 및 여행이 행복에 미치는 영향 등을 학습한다. 아카데믹 저널 알티클 및 신문기사 등을 읽고, 관련 동영상 및 영화를 본 후 토론을 하면서 행복과 관련된 컨셉(예, 웰빙, 삶의 만족)과 여행의 개념 정립 및 여행동기에 대해서 이해한다. 수업에서 배운 내용은 2개의 과제에 적용하여, 본인의 행복, 여행동기, 여행이 본인의 행복에 미치는 영향 등에 대해서 생각해보도록 한다.
  2. Course Objectives
    Upon completion of this course you should be able to: • Understand and articulate key concepts, research findings, and controversies in the emerging field of happiness and travel • Explain the connection between travel and happiness • Think about your own happiness
  3. Teachnig Method
    Assigned Readings and Lectures: You are expected to attend every lecture and be an active participant in class discussions. Class participation is critical. By participating in class, you are engaged in the learning process, assessing the ideas presented, and shaping the focus of the class. Class becomes more dynamic, interesting and rewarding when students actively share their ideas, objections, critiques, and questions. You are expected to come to class having read the assigned material and be prepared to make comments, raise questions, and offer opinions on the comments of others. Although I will lecture, a large portion of time will be devoted to discussion. I will periodically check to see whether articles have been read. Failure to read them will affect your grade. Assignments: 1) Book Analysis Develop a 4-5 page review of a book relating it to the course concepts such as travel and happiness. A book list will be provided during the class. You must choose and read one of the books provided from the list. Detailed information on requirements for this assignment will be handed out later. 2) My Happiest Travel Memory in S. Korea Write an academic essay (4-5 pages) related to your happiest travel memory in South Korea and make a presentation in class. Detailed information on requirements for this assignment will be handed out later.
