CRITICAL THINKING IN BIOTECHNOLOGY

  1. Course Description
    이 세미나의 목적은 미생물학적 개념을 이해하고 biotechnology, 의학, 식품, 환경 분야에 적용하는데 목표를 두고 있으며, 이 코스는 학생들이 과학 원리와 과학적 방법을 깊게 이해하고 비판적 사고와 문제해결 능력을 개발할 수 있도록 중요한 논문과 cutting-edge 연구를 공부하도록 설계되어 있다. 그 이유는 과학저널의 publication이 연구자들의 성과를 공유하고 전달하는 주요 경로이므로 학생들이 과학논문을 어떻게 이해하고 비판적으로 자료를 분석하는가를 배울 필요가 있다. 다양한 연구 분야와 중요한 현재 이슈들을 중점적으로 다루는 논문들이 이 과목에 사용된다.
  2. Course Objectives
    The goals of this seminar course are to foster the appreciation and applications of microbial concepts to the fields of biotechnology, medicine, nutrition, and environments. This course is designed for students to gain a deeper understanding of the nature of science and the scientific method, and develop critical thinking and problem solving skills through an exploration of seminal papers and cutting-edge biological research. Because the publication of papers in scientific journals is the primary route by which scientists share their work with the scientific community, students need to learn to read scientific papers and think critically about the data being presented. The articles for this course have been carefully selected to highlight the diversity of research areas and current important issues.
  3. Teachnig Method
    Each week covers a specific topic and consists of two classes: the first class:a mini-lecture by the instructor to cover the background and going over an assigned article together, and the second class:in-class activities and discussion related to the topic of the week.
