Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Examine the sociopolitical forces that shape education in Korea and abroad, particularly related to multiculturalism;
- Explore the educational and social issues that confront Daegu and broader Korean communities regarding race, ethnicity, socioeconomic class, gender, sexuality, and disability;
- Assess contemporary debates regarding multiculturalism and diversity in education;
- Explore personal identities in relation to larger society;
- Prepare pedagogical responses that are sensitive to multiculturalism.
