  1. Course Description
    실무중심의 창의력과 표현력을 기르게 위해 아이템별 이해 및 트렌드를 분석하고 이를 디자인으로 구체화시키는 능력을 배양한다.
  2. Course Objectives
    The aim of the course is for students to learn about research and design methodology by applying and extending their skill-set. Students will learn to work with proportion, shape and material and explore technical solutions to create a garment from a flat shape. The course encourages students to experiment and take risks. It will introduce students to develop concepts for fashion design and how to translate ideas into final garments. The ability to contextualize fashion design practice through identifying a topic of socio cultural relevance The ability to experiment with shape material and color The ability to undertake a multi approach research process using diverse sources and methodologies The ability analyze collected evidence and translate into design ideas The ability of technical realization of a designed object The ability to critically reflect on a personal design process and as part of a peer group
  3. Teachnig Method
    Assignments: Each week you will be given assignments to complete by the following week. These will be discussed the following week in class. There will be an emphasis on peer to peer review! You are required to participate. This will strengthen your analytical as well as articulation skills. Etiquette in the studio Please do not eat in the studio. The studio must be kept in a tidy condition, this includes tidying before and after the class. Material: Please bring adequate material as advised (Sketchbook, fabric, scissors, sewing material etc) . In the most cost-effective way. This is your responsibility! Please bring all your work to the tutorials and reviews! Attendance: Please do not be late for the sessions. If you come late it is your responsibility to ensure that your attendance is registered. If you cannot attend a session you must inform the tutor in advance per e mail! You must provide a doctor’s note for sickness related absence. Referencing: You must reference the artist / author of any research material you collect. If the author is unknown, you must provide the source. Tutorials: For individual tutorials, you will be assigned a time slot. IMPORTANT: Please bring all your work to the tutorial. If you find it hard to communicate you can ask a classmate to come with you. TIP: The more visual work you bring the easier it will be.

    Grades: A= Outstanding,B=Good, C=Satisfactory,D=Pass, F=Fail The project (mid term exam= 30%, Final exam= 50 %,) will be marked holistically You will receive detailed information on the marking process and what you have to submit

    Upon successful completion students will be able to use the skills from this class for their further design classes. Students will use the skills such as design & concept development, experimentation, technical problem solving and research for their collection development and other design based projects. This course supports playful as well as critical development to educate confident and culturally aware fashion designers.
