INTRODUCTION TO CONTEMPORARY EDUCATION

  1. Course Description
    현대의 교육을 이해하는데 필요한 제반 교육학적 이론을 탐색한다. 교육의 기본 개념에서부터 교육의 심리적, 사회적, 철학적 기초를 탐색한다. 또한, 교육을 위한 교육과정의 구성 및 평가, 교육 연구, 교수학습 방법 등에 대한 기초적 이해를 갖도록 한다.
  2. Course Objectives
    At the end of this course, students will be able to do the following: • identify the disciplines that constitute the foundations of education • use their understanding of the relationships between material conditions, ideologies, schooling conditions, curriculum, and pedagogy to address issues that they will face as teachers • develop a personal philosophy of life and education • analyse educational policies and practices in light of the philosophies of education in Korea and abroad • develop a critical perspective on the challenges of modern education and teachers’ roles in schooling.

    Learning and teaching approaches will include interactive lectures, discussions with accompanying pre-readings, and group activity sessions. The group activities are likely to be based around a discussion of the readings; a focused, structured project; presentation; and reflections.
