INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH WRITING

  1. Course Description
    이 과목은 기초영글쓰기 다음 단계로 문단 구성에 역점을 두고 문단의 주제 문장작성과 주제를 전개하도록 한다. 영어글쓰기에 필요한 기본 문형패턴을 단계적으로 학습하여 상황에 적합한 다양한 표현을 구사 할 수 있도록 한다. 문자유형, 어휘결함품사와 연관된 문법구조 등을 학습하고 이와 관련된 예문들의 연습을 통하여 응용능력을 겸비하게 한다.
  2. Course Objectives
    Providing students with practical, marketable language skills is a primary goal of this course. Emphasis is on clear, simple communication and correct use of articles and verbs. Students will learn how to write formal reports, how to effectively edit sentences to correct errors, and how to properly use determiners (articles) and the correct verb form (inflection) in written communications.

    The details for the individual Special Project (20% of the course grade) will be provided at the beginning of the course. Both the midterm and final examinations will consist of closed book (except for dictionaries) written exams where students will produce a written report and complete an Article Drill.
  6. Requiments
    This course was developed with sophomores majoring in American Studies in mind. Any student with elementary English writing skills will find the course a valuable experience. Instruction is in English.
  7. Practical application of the course
    Students who have already completed Elementary English Writing and are seeking to further develop their ability to effectively communicate via written English will find this course useful. Emphasis is on the development of the skills needed to produce short, clear, simple written English reports of the type commonly encountered in business exchanges. The various skills developed in this course will enable students to progress into more sophisticated levels of writing (academic or legal) with additional training and practice.
