COMPARATIVE POLITICS

  1. Course Description
    The course Comparative Politics offers an overview of the basic concepts, theories, and methods used in the field of Comparative Politics. This course aims to provide students with a foundation for understanding and analyzing political systems, institutions, and processes across different countries and regions. The overall goal is to provide students with a solid understanding of Comparative Politics and equip them with analytical skills to study and compare political systems across the world. The course Comparative Politics offers practical applications across a range of careers and fields, enabling participants to analyze political systems, understand global dynamics, and make informed decisions. This will allow them to contribute to the development of effective policies and strategies.
  2. Course Objectives
    The course will provide knowledge about the reasons for the huge differences between countries which exist in regard of stages of development, political processes and political systems. Students will gain an understanding of how these differences are based on specific historical developments and particular political cultures. They will learn how to compare systems, institutions and politics of various countries.
  3. Teachnig Method
    Active participation is expected. Each student is required to visit the consulting hour of the instructor at least once a semester. Ideally, students fulfill this requirement when they prepare for the presentation they have to hold in this course.

    Attendance and participation will be treated as one item. Students are expected to participate actively.
