WORLD HISTORY

  1. Course Description
Students are introduced to the major events, personalities, and ideas that have been central to the development of the global environment we live in today. The student is provided with an overview of the key features of such historical moments as the European Renaissance, the French Revolution, the Cold War, and the end of apartheid in South Africa. In addition, students are encouraged to question whether, after centuries of apparent development and progress, human civilization has achieved its full potential.
  2. Course Objectives
To broaden students' knowledge of contemporary world history and its effect on current affairs.
  3. Teachnig Method
Students are expected to be on time and prepared to engage in class discussions on assigned topics. Students who are not on time for class (9:01 is late), without excuse, shall be marked late. Per KMU policy, three times late equals an absence. One unexcused absence from class will result in a half grade demerit (A+ to A0). Students who are unprepared, sleeping or speaking any language other than English in class, will be marked absent. Students are also required to visit the Professor at least once during the semester for consultation.
