THESIS WRITING

  1. Course Description
    This course (for upper class KAC students) is designed to develop the research, analysis, writing skills, and also ethical awareness necessary to complete an academic thesis. Students will be expected to choose their topic, conduct appropriate research, and make significant progress in the writing of their final thesis.
  2. Course Objectives
    This course aims to support students in their individual goals, but also offers the following common goals:
    - to recognize the distinguishing features of academic research
    - to recognize and distinguish the types of academic research and their applications
    - to understand reliability and validity and their effect on research
    - to understand the importance of literature reviews and familiarity with one's field of study
    - to to plan and organize a research list and appropriately synthesize research published by a variety of authors
    - among others
  3. Teachnig Method
    This course follows all relevant KAC and KMU policies regarding the grading curve and attendance. Attendance is important, and tardiness has a negative effect on your score.

    All students are expected to comport themselves in a professional and respectful manner, towards themselves, their classmates, and the instructor. Students are responsible for their work, for managing their time, and for being aware of and following deadlines and instructions. Failure to do so will have negative consequences for your work.

    Students need a motivated and focused attitude for success in this course. A desire to take advantage of the course to spur development of one's personal thesis project is highly necessary. Prior approval from the instructor and/or KAC office may be necessary to enroll.

    This course helps students develop their research skills, a critical need for all KAC students wishing to graduate. Furthermore, any student seeking to enter graduate school will continue to develop the fundamentals established through this course.
