BUSINESS APPLICATION

  1. Course Description
    This course is intended to provide experience using 4 programs of the Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. These programs (especially the first three) are commonly used in the business world and proficiency in using them is valuable. An additional goal is to provide design skills, particularly with respect to Word and PowerPoint, as these are commonly used programs to create visuals, such as documents, basic pamphlets, and key presentations, which can dramatically influence viewers. Touch typing & email etiquette will be a focus as well, along with originality in conception and execution of design.

    Essentially, students will learn to:
    * use various MS Office programs
    * use and critique design skills
    * express creativity in using desktop publishing software
    * solve problems & gain independence in computing
  3. Teachnig Method
    Students attending this course will be required to act in a professional, respectful manner to their classmates, their instructor, and themselves, and take an earnest interest in their work. Among others, students are expected to:
    * Act in a professional manner
    * Save multiple copies of any work completed in class.
    * Submit assignments in a timely manner
    * Show and accept responsibility for oneself and one's actions.
    * Exhibit academic honesty, integrity, and originality in their work. Plagiarism will be strongly punished.

    An open mind, willingness to learn, and basic touch-typing skills. Ability to read & follow English-language handouts is very important. Time management skills are also needed.
  7. Practical application of the course
    Desktop publishing software is widely used in nearly all fields of business and careers. This course will help students in that regard (equipping them for their future careers), but also in the immediate time frame, as the skills will enable students to more effectively complete their work for KAC courses.
