BUSINESS ENGLISH(I)

  1. Course Description
    기업영어는 협상, 발표 등과 같은 다양한 비즈니스 현황에 필요한 전문적 대화와 언어훈련을 제공한다. 오늘날의 비즈니스 환경을 형성하고 있는 이슈들에 관심사, 세계적인 실질적 자료를 통한 교육, 현실적인 비즈니스 시나리오에 기반한 사례연구를 통하여 비즈니스 훈련과 언어를 향상시키고자 한다.
  2. Course Objectives
    To develop and enhance the students English oral and written communication skills for employment and practical business situations. The course will likewise enable the students to write effective business letters and memos of all types, electronic mails, informal and formal reports.
  3. Teachnig Method
    1. Coverage of Midterm and Final Examinations Midterm examinations will cover the topics and lectures from the start of the classes until the last lecture prior to the scheduled midterm examination. The final examination will cover the topics after the Midterm Examinations up to the end of the lecture sessions. 2. Quizzes Quizzes will be given after the lecture for evaluation and follow-up purposes. Students are encouraged to study their lectures regularly to cope up with the quizzes to be given. 3. Class Tasks/Assignments Students will be required to write and submit business letters and communication as part of the class tasks/assignments. Said exercises will be compiled in one folder file for submission by the student and will form part as basis in the grade computation. 4. Attendance Significant time is allotted for discussion, active learning, and student submission of class exercises. Therefore each student is encouraged to attend classes regularly to maximize the benefits of learning in this course.

    There is no prerequisite for this course, for as long as the students enrolling in this course have adequate background in both oral and written communication, since the entire class sessions will be conducted using English language.
  7. Practical application of the course
    This is practically useful to the students since they will be exposed to writing business letters, using both oral and written interoffice communication methods and procedures which will all be relevant in their future employment.
