  1. Course Description
    This course, Korean I, is the beginner's class in learning Korean. It teaches students the Korean Alphabet, Hangul, the Korean sound system and basic grammatical structures and short dialogues based on everyday greetings, asking directions, shopping, etc.
  2. Course Objectives
    1. Korean Writing System : Students should be able to read and write a Korean. 2. Greeting & introduction : Students should be able to greet and introduce themselves in Korean 3. Request & Suggestion : Students should be able to make requests, suggestions, commands : Students should be able to count people or thing in Korean number. 4. Point at things : Student should be able to point at thing in Korean expression. 5. Present tense Verbs and adjectives : Students should be able to describe their daily life using Present tense Verbs and adjectives. 6. Time : Students should be able to tell time using Korean numbering system. 7. Past tense Verbs and adjectives : Students should be able to describe what they did using past tense Verbs and adjectives. 8. Locations & Direction : Students should be able to describe the position of things and indicate the direction toward the place. 9. Phone call : Students should be able to make a call in Korean

    1. Dictation test There will be dictation test when it is required. If you miss the test, you will receive an automatic”0”. Any missed exams, presentation will receive an automatic”0”. 2. Attendance You will lose points if you miss class. You will lose 1 point everytime you miss the class. Student will fail after 21hours (=7days) and more of absences. If you have any special reason for absence, please submit evidence paper.(e.g : If you leave Departmental retreat, you can submit a responsible person’s letter.)

    Students can learn basic communication skill and Korean culture from this course.
