탄수화물, 지방 및 단백질의 분류, 구조, 체내생리작용, 대사, 필요량, 결핍증세 및 함유식품 등을 공부하며, 또한 식욕과 소화흡수, 무기질, 비타민의 기능, 에너지대사등을 이해한다. 그리고 이를 바탕으로 자기와 가족의 식생활을 효율적으로 관리할 수 있는 능력을 기른다.
- Course Objectives
After completing this introductory nutrition course, you will be able to:
-Discuss reasons for why we eat what we eat;
-Describe the major nutrients, vitamins, and minerals and their roles in the body;
-Explain the concepts of energy balance and weight control;
-Discuss the relationship between health and nutrition;
-Explain the relationship between diet and health

• Attend class and participate in discussions and in-class activities. Participation is important and rewarded with 10% of your final grade

- Practical application of the course
To provide an understanding of basic nutrition science to nutrition and non-nutrition students with a limited scientific background.
Topics to be discussed include food choices, nutrients, planning a healthy diet, Food safety and security.
A broad overview of carbohydrates, lipids, protein, vitamins, and minerals will be presented. Also included will be sections on weight control, diet and health.
