READING CONTEMPORARY KOREAN LITERATURE AND CULTURE IN ENGLISH(영어강의) [READING CONTEMPORARY KOREAN LITERATURE AND CULTURE IN ENGLISH]
This class will explore many of the major works of contemporary Korean fiction, poetry, and film. Through the framework of literature and visual media, students will also have the opportunity to learn deeper about historical events and social changes in contemporary Korean society, culture, and history. Focusing primarily on literature published after the 1997-1998 IMF crisis, this class will help students understand contemporary trends in Korean literature and their development over the last 20 years. All the work taught is available in English translation as well as in the original Korean text, and students will be encouraged to engage in comparative analysis and dialogue between the source and target languages.
